Modular Forms Reading Group: For Next Time

Next Meeting: Wednesday 18th March 12:00-13:00 WGB 107
Reading: Diamond-Shurman Cusp Forms & Congruence Subgroups.

Previously

Diamond-Shurman up to pg5. Exercises up to 1.1.5.
Fourier Expansion of Eisenstein Series: To handle the converge of the product expansion of sine, consider the following product and follow a similar argument as before.

Take time to digest the Fourier expansion in terms of the sums of powers of divisors function.
Discussed limiting behaviour of modular forms at cusps to motivate cusp forms.
Emphasised importance of space of cusp forms as subspace of modular forms and ideal of graded algebra.

Other Interesting of Interest

Chapter 1 of http://www.few.vu.nl/~sdn249/modularforms16/NotesOld.pdf discusses the modular group in the context of lattices.
